A late 19th/early 20th century Russian miniature silver and cloisonné enamel icon of Christ Pantocrator, possibly by Pavel Ovchinnikov, depicting the Saviour realistically painted, against a silver gilt ground, within an arched reserve, encased in a cloisonne enamelled oklad, with a border of vari-coloured enamelled flowerheads and scrolls against a stippled ground, the icon suspended from a hinged square suspension fitting, with stamped 84 kokoshnik standard mark, bearing Cyrillic maker’s mark possibly for Pavel Ovchinnikov, length excluding suspensory loop 52mm, including 74mm. £300-£500
The kokoshnik mark with the female head facing left was in use between 1899-1908.
