Commission Documents (2), appointing Lionel Richard Stopford to be a Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade, dated 18 February 1867; another, appointing James Henville Thresher to be a 2nd Lieutenant in the Land Forces (Royal Warwickshire Regiment), dated 1 April 1892, good condition (2) £20-30

Lionel Richard Stopford-Sackville was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant on 13 June 1863 and serving with the Rifle Brigade attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 December 1891 and gained the rank of Brevet-Colonel on 1 December 1895. He was placed on Half Pay in 1897 and retired in 1899. He was entitled to the Ashantee Medal 1873-74 with clasp Coomassie.

J. H. Thresher was born on 30 August 1870 and educated at Winchester. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 1 April 1892. Transferring to the Rifle Brigade in May 1892, he retired with the rank of Major in 1909. Re-employed in 1914, he attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1919 and retired again the same year. During the Great War he was mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.M.G. in 1914, the Belgian Order of the Crown, Officer Class and French Legion of Honour, Officer Class in 1917, the Belgian Croix de Guerre in 1918 and the French Order of Agricultural Merit, Officer Class in 1919. He died in 1943. Both sold with copied research.
