Pair: Corporal of Horse John Swift, 1st Life Guards

Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Toulouse (John Swift, Corporal, 1st Life Guards); Waterloo 1815 (John Swift, 1st Regiment Life Guards) fitted with contemporary silver ball and bar suspension, edge bruising and contact marks, therefore good fine, the first nearly extremely fine and a scarce pair (2) £2500-3000

John Swift was born at Halifax, Yorkshire, and attested for the 1st Life Guards at Rochdale, Lancaster, on 15 December 1812, aged 17 years 9 months. According to his record of service ‘he served with the 1st Life Guards in the Peninsula, Netherlands, and France, and was present at the battles of Vittoria (sic) and Waterloo.’ Promoted to Corporal of Horse on 25 April 1824, he was finally discharged at Windsor on 6 May 1835.
