Private S. Barton, 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment, entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 22 August 1914.

Colour Serjeant W. F. Hannan, 1st Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment, entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. He was later awarded a Silver War Badge as an Acting Warrant Officer Class 1.
