Robert Charles was born in Worcester and residing in Tottenham he enlisted in London. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 30 August 1914. He died of wounds, France / Flanders, on 4 July 1917 and was buried in Etretat Churchyard. He had previously served in the South African Campaign.

John Toomey was born in Dublin and enlisted at Maryboro, Queen’s County. Serving with the 2nd Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 6 November 1914 and later won the Military Medal (
London Gazette 3 June 1916). He died of wounds on 8 July 1916 and was buried at Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-l’Abbe.
