Alan Balantyne Savory was born at Southwold, Suffolk, and served in the ranks of the 1/6th Devons in Mesopotamia from December 1915, being wounded there on 8 March 1916. He was commissioned as Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the North Staffordshire Regiment on 19 August 1918, and promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on 19 February 1920. Sold with copy service papers and extracts from his correspondence file.
