States of Guernsey, withdrawn 6 Pence, 1 January 1942, serial number P0452, with a red overprint “Withdrawn from Circulation, July 22nd, 1942.” on both sides, on the scarcer blue paper, a superb original good extremely fine, and an extremely rare example of a fractional occupation issue that was officially withdrawn but kept, likely for a specific reason such as a gift or souvenir. This is the first time either of the cataloguers have seen or even heard of such an overprint, but several are recorded, with a variety of overprint styles. An exceptional item.
