LONDON, Broker’s badge, type 5, 1837-84, a struck silver badge by B. Wyon, crowned arms and supporters, rev. arms of the City of London, named (Alexander Fletcher Wood), 41mm, 19.25g/12h (Naylor 7; Caldecott 4; W 2766; E 1239); together with Freedom of the City of London, a named certificate, 12 February 1846 [Lot]. Medal brilliant mint state and toned, in case of issue by B. Wyon, Medallist…287 Regent Street, certificate fine and in original turned cylindrical wooden box £400-£500

The certificate reads: “Alexander Fletcher Wood, of London, Spectacle Maker, was admitted into the Freedom aforesaid and sworn in the Mayoralty of John Johnson Esq, Mayor and Anthony Browne Esq, Chamberlain and is entered in the book signed with the Letter L relating to the purchasing of Freedoms and the Admissions of Freemen (to wit) the 12th day of February in the 9th Year of the reign of Queen Victoria, And in the year of our Lord 1846. In Witness whereof the Seal of the Office of Chamberlain of the said City is hereunto affixed Dated in the Chamber of the Guildhall of the same City the day and year abovesaid.”
