Victory Medal 1914-19 (820 S.M.1. A. Hamilton. R.A.F.) edge bruising and pitting, nearly very fine £80-£120

Alexander Hamilton was born in Dunfermline, Fife, on 23 September 1891, and joined the Royal Flying Corps on 24 February 1913. He served as a Corporal during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 August 1914 to 14 October 1915, and from 13 February 1916 to 16 February 1917; and having bean advanced Flight Sergeant on 1 March 1915, was awarded the Military Medal. He transferred to the Royal Air Force on its formation on 1 April 1918, and served again on the Western Front with 37 Squadron from 18 October 1918 to the cessation of hostilities, before transferring to the Reserve on 20 March 1919.
