William Truman Wappett was born in 1886 and attested for the Northumberland Fusiliers He served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 November 1915, before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps and later the Royal Air Force as an electrician. He served during the Second World War as an A.R.P. Warden in Gateshead, and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1948. He died in 1972.
