A Great War R.R.C. awarded to Principal Matron C. W. Millar, Territorial Force Nursing Service

Royal Red Cross, 1st Class (R.R.C.), G.V.R., silver-gilt, gold and enamel, the reverse inscribed ‘C. W. Millar, April 1917’, on lady’s bow riband; together with a Territorial Force Nursing Service Cape Badge, silver; and a Territorial Army Nursing Service Cape Badge, silver, extremely fine (3) £260-£300

Christina Wilson Millar was born on 11 July 1869, and was appointed Matron, 2nd Scottish General Hospital (Territorial Force Nursing Service), Graigleith, Edinburgh, on 2 February 1909. She was called up for service with the Territorial Force Nursing Service on 16 July 1916, and for her service at the 2nd Scottish General Hospital was awarded the Royal Red Cross, 1st Class. Discharged back to her civil position at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, on 31 March 1919, she continued serving as a Territorial and was appointed Principal Matron at 2nd Scottish General Hospital on 1 October 1925. She resigned from the Territorial Force Nursing Service on 1 October 1929, and died on 18 April 1960.
