Andrew Lockhead was born in Glasgow, and attested for the Wiltshire Regiment at Melksham, Wiltshire. He served with the 2nd/4th Battalion during the Great War in the Asiatic theatre of War from 25 August 1914, and died in Mesopotamia on 6 July 1916.
