Edward Lovett was born in Stepney, London in 1889 and attested for the Army Service Corps on 4 September 1914. He served with them during the Great War on the Western Front in France from 21 September 1914 to 3 November 1915 and again from 19 June 1916 to 14 December 1916. He was then transferred to the Balkans, serving in Salonika from 15 December 1916 to the conclusion of the war.
