Waterloo 1815 (Robert Watt, 1st Bat. 92nd Highlanders.) with original steel clip and ring suspension, very fine £2,600-£3,000

Robert Watt was born in Banff, Scotland, and attested for the 92nd Highlanders aged just 9 in May 1794. He served with the Regiment through the Egyptian campaign of 1801 and the retreat to Corunna. It is most likely that he would have accompanied the regiment for service in the Irish Rebellion in 1798, the campaign in Holland in 1799, and the expeditions to Copenhagen in 1807 and the Walcheren in 1809 (entitled to a Military General Service Medal with 9 clasps - the maximum nine clasps earned by the regiment - Egypt, Corruna, Fuentes D’Onor, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes and Toulouse. This is held by the Regimental Museum). Watt was wounded whilst serving in Captain G. Couper’s company at Waterloo, and was discharged at Kilmainham, 14 July 1818, aged 33 and having served 26 years and 10 days (taking into account 2 years service for Waterloo) with the Colours. Sold with extensive copied research.
