Three: Private D. Hodge, 92nd Highlanders

Afghanistan 1878-80, 3 clasps, Charasia, Kabul, Kandahar (906 Pte. D. Hodge. 92nd Highrs.) suspension bar slightly bent; Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880, unnamed, with pawn broker’s mark to reverse ; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (906 Pte. D. Hodge. 92nd Foot) first and third with edge bruising, pitting, fine; second good very fine (3) £460-£500

David Hodge was born in Linlithgow, Scotland. A Miner by occupation, he attested for the 92nd Highlanders at Stirling on 23 December 1862, aged 18 years. With the regiment he served in the East Indies, January 1869 - March 1879; Afghanistan, March 1879 - October 1880; East Indies, October 1880 - January 1881; and during the First Boer War, January-July 1881 (awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in 1881). Hodge was discharged, 15 December 1883.
