John Thomas Garside served with Brabant’s Horse in South Africa during the Boer War, and was additionally entitled to the clasp South Africa 1901 for service with Steinaecker's Horse. He died on 4 May 1901, and his medal was sent to his father Mr. B. Garside, of 102 Knapp Road, Bow, London.
