Charles William Munn was born in Chelsea in 1879 and joined the Royal Field Artillery on 25 November 1897. He served with the 83rd Battery in South Africa from 8 January 1900 to 5 December 1905- he arrived too late to take part in the actual pursuit to Paardeberg, but was present at Diamond Hill, 11-12 June 1900. He was discharged on 24 November 1909, but re-enlisted on 7 September 1914, and served with the 22nd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery during the Great War on the Western Front from 6 October 1914. He was wounded by gunshot to right thigh and left forearm on 31 August 1916, and returned to England on 6 September 1916. He was discharged from No. 1 Cadet School, Royal Field Artillery, on 14 February 1919, and died in Kensington in 1945.
