Thistle William Mount was born in Bean, Kent, on 16 March 1914, and joined the Royal Artillery in 1938. He served during the Second World War in the Field Artillery in 1944; in the Light Anti-Aircraft Artillery in 1945; and then in Palestine in 1947 with the 80th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. Advanced Warrant Officer Class II, he was discharged in 1961 and died in Chatham, Kent, in 1974.
