Four: Lieutenant-Colonel L. B. Irwin, 20th Punjab Infantry

India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Jowaki 1877-8, Hazara 1888 (Captain L. B. Irwin. 20th Bengal N.I.) second clasp loose on ribbon; Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Ali Musjid (Capt. L. B. Irwin. 20th Ben: N.I.); Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, Tel-el-Kebir (Capt: L. B. Irwin. B.S. Corps.); Khedive's Star 1882, some light contact marks and pitting from star, otherwise very fine (4) £700-£900

Lyndon Bolton Irwin was first commissioned into the 3rd Foot as Ensign on 16 May 1865, becoming Lieutenant on 2 December 1868. He transferred to the Bengal Staff Corps in September 1871 and was posted to the 20th Punjab Infantry, becoming Captain and Wing Officer on 16 May 1877. He served in the expedition against the Jowaki Afridis in 1877-78 (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Served with the 20th Bengal Native Infantry in the Afghan War of 1878-79, and was present at the attack and capture of Ali Musjid (Medal with Clasp). Also served in the Mahsood Wuzeeree Ezpedition in 1881. Served with the 20th Bengal Native Infantry in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). He was promoted to Major on 16 May 1885, and to Lieutenant-Colonel, 2nd in Command and Wing Commander, 20th Bengal Native Infantry, 26 May 1891. His war services in various Army Lists do not mention the Hazara campaign of 1888 and this clasp has not been confirmed. He died in 1892.
