A good presentation sword for an officer of the Scots Guards, 1854 pattern, the straight 82 cm blade by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No, 18386 for 1872, etched with crowned VR cypher regimental device and within ribbons battle honours to ‘Sevastopol’ foliate scrolls etc. and within a cartouche at the forte the owner’s crest of an elephant and initials ‘ACK’ and a short presentation inscription ‘From Lieut. General the Marquis Of Hertford’ regulation steel guard incorporating regimental badge, fish-skin covered grip bound with silver wire, complete with its steel scabbard, blade retaining almost all original finish, inside of guard lightly rusted otherwise good condition overall £200-250
