A Second World War D.F.M. awarded to Sergeant L. P. Hiscocks, No. 61 Squadron, Royal Air Force

Distinguished Flying Medal, G.VI.R. (1256617 Sgt. L. P. Hiscocks, R.A.F.) good very fine £600-800

D.F.M. London Gazette 15 June 1943: Sergeant Leslie Philip Hiscocks, No. 61 Squadron.

The following details are taken from the original recommendation: ‘This N.C.O. has completed more than 200 hours operational flying in 30 successful sorties. His targets include Berlin (3), Bremen, Kiel, Essen, Hamburg, Nuremberg and the Italian cities. His courage and cheerfulness have been of a high order which, coupled with his ability to direct the pilot under heavy anti-aircraft fire when nearing the target and the help he has always afforded his Navigator, have greatly contributed to the success of the attacks. For his exemplary record and determination, often in the face of great opposition, he is recommended for the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal.’
