M.C. London Gazette 2 April 1919; citatation London Gazette 10 December 1919: (T./Lt. Thomas Edward Dickinson, R. Fus., attd. 1/7th Bn. W. York. R.) ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack near Avesnes-sur-See on 11th October 1918, and following days. As battalion intelligence officer, he many times went forward, in full view of the enemy, over an area swept by accurate machine-gun fire, and barraged by hostile artillery, and obtained very valuable information. During the enemy counter-attack he repeatedly went up and down the line, in spite of heavy fire, collecting stragglers and organising them into fighting units, whom he led forward again. His very courageous behaviour was a splendid example to all ranks.’

Note the Army List, November 1918, lists another Lieutenant T.E. Dickinson serving in the Army Service Corps.
