O.B.E. London Gazette 1 January 1941. Lieutenant-Colonel (acting Colonel) Edward Temple, Royal Artillery.

Edward Temple was born on 26 April 1892 and entered the Royal Artillery as a 2nd Lieutenant on 19 July 1912. Serving in India, August - October 1915 and Mesopotamia, December 1916 - October 1918, he was promoted Lieutenant on 9 June 1915 and Captain on 8 August 1916 and was several times appointed Acting Major. He was D.A.A.G. to the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force with the rank of Temporary Major, December 1918 - February 1919 and Brigade Major R.A. Lowland Division, June 1920 - March 1923. Temple was promoted Major on 20 March 1931 and Lieutenant-Colonel on 1 January 1939. Following the outbreak of the Second World War he held the posts of A.Q.M.G. British Expeditionary Force, May - June 1940 and A.A. & Q.M.G. Iceland June - December 1940. He was later A.Q.M.G. Home Forces, October - December 1941. He held the ranks of Acting Colonel , 16 May 1940 and Temporary Colonel, 16 November 1940 - 3 December 1942 before being promoted Colonel on 4 December 1942. He then held the ranks of Acting Brigadier and Temporary Brigadier during 1943-44. Temple retired with the rank of Brigadier in 1946 and died in 1961.
