Sold with Queen Mary’s Christmas tin 1914 and a newspaper cutting re. the death of Engineman Gibson, ‘’It is feared that three Ramsgate sailors lost their lives by drowning at sea on Thursday last. Details are not yet available ...
Second Engineer L. Gibson, of 7 Abbott’s Hill, Ramsgate, is the third man. He was thirty years of age, and has been married nine years. He had no children.’

Engineman Lionel Victor Henry Gibson, R.N.R. died 3 August 1916 when his ship the drifter
Rooke was sunk in a collision off Deal, Kent. His name is listed on the Chatham Memorial.
