A. T. G. Nibbs served with the 6th London Regiment at the start of the Great War and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant with the Army Cyclist Corps in August 1915. Promoted Lieutenant in July 1917, in 1918 he was attached to the 23rd Battalion London Regiment. In the Second World War, he served as a Captain in the Home Guard and post-war served as an Acting Lieutenant-Colonel with the Cadet Forces. His change of name occured sometime between 1915 and 1918.
