Recommendation states: ‘On the night of Sept. 28th-29th 1918 during the operations south of Villers Guislain. Pte. Harris as company runner gave the greatest assistance to his company commander, whose company was leading the attack, carrying many messages under very heavy fire and moving fearlessly in and out of the fight and on several occasions he joined in the fight himself, disposing of a number of the enemy. Throughout Pte. Harris showed great initiative in securing valuable information.’ (Ref:
