Versey Francis West was born on 12 March 1881 and attested for the Army on 16 June 1916. Posted to the Essex Regiment, he served in the ranks until appointed to a commission in the Essex Regiment on 26 June 1917. Whilst serving with the 9th Battalion Essex Regiment he received a gunshot wound to the right arm on 1 December 1917 and on 5 April 1918 was struck on the left thigh by a shell fragment. Sold with 12 sheets of copied service papers.
