George William Bell was born in Brentwood and enlisted in Warley, Essex. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment, he was killed action during the Third Battle of Ypres, near Houthulst, Belgium. His name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
