Gustavus Adolphus, Funeral, 1634, a silver medal or 5 Thalers for Erfurt by S. Dadler, King lying in state in foreground, battle raging behind, rev. King in chariot to left, emblems of sovereignty around, 79mm, 138.46g (Dav. 275A [Erfurt]; BEH 192, 188; Maué 35). Edge bruise on obverse at 6 o‘clock and other minor rim nicks, otherwise good very fine and attractively toned; one of the finest medals by Dadler £2,000-£3,000

After his death on the battlefield of Lützen on 6 November 6 1632, the body of Gustavus Adolphus was first brought to Weissenfels and in the spring of 1633 to Wolgast on the island of Usedom. In July 1633, the Swedish Admiral Gyllenhjelm transferred the body to Sweden and it was moved to Nyköping on 8 August, where it remained until the completion of the funerary monument in the Stockholm Riddarholmskyrka. The solemn funeral took place on 22 June 1634
