Welsh Rgt.); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen (Capt., Welsh Rgt.); King’s South Africa, 2 clasps (Maj., Welsh Rgt.); 1914-15 Star (Major, Welsh R.); British War and Victory Medals (Major); Khedive’s Star, undated, mounted for display, very fine and better (7) £600-700

William Vaughton Pennefather served in the Sudan War, being present at the action at Gemaizah. During the Second Boer War he served in operations in Cape Colony, south of the Orange River, including the actions at Colesburg, 14 January - 12 February. In command of the Mounted Infantry Battalion. Afterwards District and Station Commandant, from August 1901. For his services he was mentioned in despatches, 8.2.1901 7 10.2.1901 and received the brevet of Major. During the Great War he was at times second in command of the 20th (Reserve) Battalion (3rd Rhondda) Welsh Regiment and in command of the 60th Battalion Training Reserve.
