East and West Africa 1887-1900, edge impressed Mwele 1895, no clasp (W. Yabsley, A.B., H.M.S. Racoon) very fine £120-140

William Henry Yabsley was born in Brixton, Devon in August 1872 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in August 1890. In addition to participation in the Mwele operations of 1895 aboard H.M.S. Racoon, he served off China in the Terrible in 1900. Yabsley was discharged as an Able Seaman in June 1905 and was subsequently re-engaged to serve in the Royal Fleet Reserve until June 1915.
