India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Pegu (W. Rymer, Engrs. Appce., “Phlegethon”) suspension claw tightened / refixed, edge bruising, contact marks and polished, otherwise good fine £120-150

W. Rymer, a Eurasian, entered the Bengal Marine as a 3rd Class Engineer Apprentice in December 1843 and had risen to the rank of 1st Class Apprentice on the steam vessel Phlegethon by December 1851. Subsequently engaged in the Pegu operations, he was advanced to 3rd Class Engineer aboard the Proserpine in February 1854; further research required to establish details of his subsequent career.
