Ghuznee 1839 (Private William Forrest, 13th Light Infantry) engraved in reverse field in running script, good very fine £350-400

William Forrest was born in the Parish of Dalkeith, Midlothian, and attested for the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards at Edinburgh on 19 April 1820, aged 16 years. He was discharged ‘ineligible’ from the 3rd Guards on 1 August 1825, and re-enlisted into the 13th Light Infantry on 10 October 1826. He served with the 13th in the East Indies from 20 May 1827 to 30 September 1840, and with the Army of the Indus during the campaigns of 1838 and 1839. Of very bad character and intemperate, Private William Forrest was discharged at Cabool on 30 September 1840. Sold with copy discharge papers.
