Thomas Hogan, Bengal Infantry Portrait Miniature on Ivory, a good quality oval example depicting Hogan in full dress, this a scarlet coatee with white facings silver lace and buttons, black leather shoulder belt with oval silver plate, 7.2 x 5.4 cms, contained in its original gilt slip lined ebonised rectangular frame, this complete with suspension ring and leaf decoration. The miniature is inscribed in pencil on the reverse ‘Thomas Hogan’, good condition £300-£500

Cadet HEIC 1769, Ensign 1770, Lieutenant 1773, Captain 1780.
At some time in the 1780s he was involved in a monetary scandal concerning distribution of pay but was exonerated of all blame.
He died at Buxar 20th March 1793.
