United States of America, Military Order of the Dragon (Charles Reginald Scott Elliot. 4th. Madras Pioneers. No. 326) blackened bronze with gilded dragon, lacking integral top Pagoda suspension bar and original embroidered silk riband, very fine £1,400-£1,800

Charles Reginald Scott-Elliot was an Honorary Queen’s India Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant, Unattached List, on 28 January 1893. He was appointed to the Indian Staff Corps on 5 April 1894, and was promoted Lieutenant on 28 April 1895. He served with the 4th Madras Pioneers during the Boxer Rebellion, and was advanced Major in 81st Pioneers on 28 January 1911. He saw further service during the Great War on the Adjutant-General’s Staff, and was appointed Assistant Adjutant-General on 28 January 1915.
