Pair: Private John Watson, 92nd Highlanders, who was wounded in the thigh at Bayonne in 1814 and had his right arm amputated from a wound at Waterloo

Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Vittoria, Nive (John Watson, 92nd Foot); Waterloo 1815 (John Watson, 1st Bat. 92nd Highlanders.) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, the second with minor edge bump and light marks, otherwise good very fine (2) £3,400-£4,000

John Watson was born on 11 May 1791, in the Parish of Skeene, Aberdeenshire, and enlisted on 11 May 1807, aged 18, a labourer by trade. He was discharged at Aberdeen on 24 November 1815, in consequence of ‘amputated right arm from wound at Waterloo, near the shoulder’ and also ‘wounded left thigh at Bayonne.’ He served at Waterloo in Captain Samuel Maxwell’s No. 8 Company. He was admitted to an out-pension at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, on 14 May 1816.
