General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (Lieut. M. V. Vaughan-Arbuckle, R.A.S.C.) minor correction to naming, edge bruise, very fine £60-£80

Hector Barnard Vaughan-Arbuckle was born in Eltam, Kent, on 27 July 1907, the son of Captain Bertram Vaughan-Arbuckle. He served in the ranks for 4 years and 166 days, before being commissioned Second Lieutenant in the King’s Own Regiment on 27 August 1931 from the Royal Military College. He transferred to the Royal Army Service Corps on 31 March 1934, and was promoted Lieutenant on 27 August 1934, Captain on 1 August 1938, and acting on Major 25 January 1940; later in 1944 he served in command of the 165 Company Royal Army Service Corps, this unit later in June 1944 became the 165 Company Royal Army Service Corps, (Air Composite), an Airborne Air Despatch unit which took part at Arnhem. He died in December 1977 in Brighton.

On the Palestine Medal roll his typed initials ‘M. V.’ (as appears on the medal) have been crossed out, and his correct initials ‘H. B.’ are hand-written on.
