General Service 1918-62 (2), 1 clasp, Arabian Peninsula (1672 Pte Kamach Alaut. T.O.S.); another, 2 clasps Cyprus, Arabian Peninsula, unofficial retaining rod between clasps (805 Private Salim Said T.O.S.) extremely fine, Cyprus clasp scarce to unit £80-£120

The Arabian Peninsula clasp was issued for operations in support of the Sultan of Oman’s Armed Forces in the Jebel Akhdar campaign, fighting alongside the Special Air Service and Life Guards among others. The qualifying period for this clasp is 30 days’ service between 1 January 1957 and 30 June 1960. Additionally if service personnel were withdrawn from Cyprus prior to their completing the necessary 120 days to the earn the Cyprus clasp to the ‘Arabian Peninsula’ campaign, they would still earn the Cyprus clasp. Private Said’s three digit enlistment number reflects being of the original recruits to the Trucial Oman Scouts.
