Thomas Edward Parry was born in Liverpool on 17 September 1895, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class on 23 February 1912. Advanced Able Seaman on 1 April 1914, he served during the Great War first in the armoured Cruiser H.M.S. Cumberland, before transferring to the Dreadnought H.M.S. Erin on 15 April 1915, and served in her during the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916. Advanced Leading Seaman on 15 November 1917, he transferred to the Submarine depot ship H.M.S. Dolphin on 5 June 1918, and then to the Submarine depot ship H.M.S. Titania on 16 September 1918.

Parry was advanced Petty Officer on 11 October 1921, and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, together with a gratuity of £20, on 4 February 1929. He subsequently received the Silver Jubilee Medal on 7 May 1935 whilst borne on the books of the Depot ship H.M.S.
Drake. He was shore pensioned on 16 September 1935, but saw further service as a Chief Petty Officer during the Second World War from 12 July 1940 until the cessation of hostilities. He died in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on 17 December 1965.
