Five: Attributed to Major G. P. Walker, Devonshire Regiment

1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Burma Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, mounted for wear together with the recipient’s riband bar, extremely fine (5) £60-£80

Gerald Philip Walker was born in 1921 in Bideford, Devon. He was appointed to an emergency commission in the 4th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment with effect from 26 April 1941 and served with them in Gibraltar from August 1941. He was advanced to War Substantive Lieutenant on 1 October 1942 and later in the war he appears to have been attached to the 7th (Uganda Territorial Force) Battalion, King’s African Rifles, based at Ceylon and later in Ranchi, India. He relinquished his commission in July 1946 and was granted the honorary rank of Major.

Sold with a good quantity of original documents relating to the recipient; together with some original certificates relating to the Great War service of Sergeant Frederick Holwill, 5th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.
