Only three recipients shown on the roll of this unit, also known as Eckersleys Transvaal Native Contingent: Captain G. Eckersley, and Lieutenants J. G. Glinister and F. W. Rawlins. The unit comprised of Transvaal Natives and was raised by Captain Eckersley in 1879 for service in the Zulu War and against Sekukuni. Its strength was a little over 200 but only the three officers qualified for medals.
