Medal for Saving Life at Sea, a specimen medal, in bronze, 40mm, by Benjamin Wyon, the obverse showing a sailing ship in distress perilously near rocks with a lifeboat coming to the rescue, the reverse inscribed ‘To [blank] He risked his own to save another’s life’ within wreath, planchet only, extremely fine £80-£120

It is possible that this is a design for the Life Saving Medal of the Norfolk Association for Saving Lives from Shipwreck, founded in 1824, though the eventually adopted medal was of a quite different design. In 1855 Benjamin Wyon also designed the Board of Trade medal for gallantry in saving life.
