Norman Alfred Weston served during the Great War with the 1/5th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade) in the French theatre of war from 4 November 1914. He advanced to Company Sergeant Major, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 7th Battalion, The Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) in June 1915.

Weston transferred as Lieutenant to the Indian Army Reserve of Officers in January 1918, and advanced to Captain for service in South Persia. He re-engaged as a Second Lieutenant for service during the Second War with the Royal Army Service Corps, in January 1940.
