Dominic James Clancey trained at Thompson College, was appointed an Apprentice Engineer and posted to Rajputana in November 1878. Clancey transferred as an Assistant Engineer to Assam in January 1882, and served as the Executive Engineer for the Silchar Column on the North East Frontier in 1891 (M.I.D. London Gazette 14 August 1891). He subsequently served as Assistant to the Chief Engineer and Under Secretary to the Government of East Bengal and Assam from October 1905. Clancey retired in April 1909.
