Four: Able Seaman G. P. Shuttle, Royal Navy, who died of disease on 17 June 1917

George Pike Shuttle was born in Woodford, Essex, on 7 July 1886, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 1 October 1901. Advanced Able Seaman on 15 August 1906, whilst serving in H.M.S. Irresistible, he transferred to H.M.S. Odin on 26 May 1911, and served in her in the Persian Gulf. He subsequently served in H.M.S. Renown during the Great War from 21 October 1916, and died of disease whilst on active service on 17 June 1917. He is buried under a C.W.G.C. headstone in Dalmeny Parish Cemetery, South Queensferry, Scotland.
