Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (2785. Cpl. J. Pulley. 1/ R.W. Kent R.) light pitting from Star, nearly very fine £140-£180

Provenance: Buckland, Dix & Wood, December 1992.

Joseph Pulley was born in Holdfast, Upton-on-Severn, Worcestershire, in 1862, and served with the 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment in Egypt and the Sudan from 1882, taking part in the Nile Expedition of 1884-85. Having taken his discharge, he re-enlisted in the Royal Southern Reserve Regiment at Bury St. Edmunds on 22 March 1900, following the outbreak of the Boer War, and served with them at home before being discharged on 21 March 1901, after a further 1 year’s service.

Sold with copied medal roll extracts and service papers for his second period of service.
