India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1891 (66231 Gunr. J. Campbell No.1 Mn. By. R.A.) nearly extremely fine £100-£140

James Campbell was born in Belleek, Co. Fermanagh, in 1866 and attested for the Royal Artillery at Londonderry on 18 February 1888. He served with the Artillery in India from 28 September of that year until 1 February 1896, and took part in the Hazara Expedition of 1891. Returning home, he transferred to the Army Reserve on 6 February 1896, but was recalled to Army Service on 18 December 1899, and saw further service in South Africa during the Boer War from 10 January 1900 to 18 February 1901 (entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, and South Africa 1901). He was finally discharged on 6 April 1901, after 13 years and 48 days’ service.
