M.S.M. London Gazette 17 June 1918:

‘In recognition of valuable services rendered with the Forces in France during the present war.’

George Wheadon was born in Tonypandy, Glamorgan. He served during the Great War with the 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry in the French theatre of war from July 1915 (entitled to 1914-15 Star), and was killed in action on the Western Front, 22 March 1918. Company Sergeant Wheadon is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.
