85th (The King’s Light Infantry) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate c1830-1855. The rectangular burnished gilt back plate with various silver mounts comprising, laurel and palm sprays, a crowned oval strap, ‘Aucto Splendore Resurgo’,within the strap on a domed gilt ground and in silver a scroll, ‘The King’s Light Infy.’ over a strung bugle horn, within the strings the engine-turned numerals ‘85’. On the junction of the leaf sprays a scroll ‘Nive’’ at the bottom a tri-part scroll ‘Fuentes D’Onor Peninsula Bladensburg’, standard hook and stud fasteners, the scroll above the bugle horn and the ‘Nive’ scroll with considerable wear, the back plate professionally regilded at some time, otherwise good condition £400-£500
