G. Verrall served with the 4/7th Dragoon Guards, and advanced to Corporal in April 1934, and Lance-Sergeant in in May 1937 (awarded L.S. & G.C. in June 1938). Verrall was promoted Sergeant and appointed Band Sergeant in December 1938.
